Probate & Estate Administration
Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Samuel Butcher brings something most elder law attorneys don't, a background in both medicine and law. Before practicing law, Sam spent years as a registered pharmacist, giving him a firsthand understanding of medical conditions and the real impact illness has on families. That experience shaped everything that followed.
After earning his Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Sam built his career in prosecution, insurance law, and civil litigation before founding Butcher Elder Law in 2011, devoted entirely to elder law, special needs planning, and estate planning. He is one of a select group of attorneys nationwide certified as a Certified Elder Law Attorney through the National Elder Law Foundation, the only ABA-accredited organization that certifies practitioners in this specialty.
Sam also has a personal connection to this work. His mother passed away after a years-long battle with Alzheimer's dementia, and he understands what your family is going through, not just as an attorney, but as someone who has been there.

The fine folks at Butcher Elder Law have been helping our family since 2013. Professional, wonderful people! After the passing of our parents Butcher Elder Law helped walk us through a year of difficult personal family business. I am very blessed to have them. Thank you, Sam, Pat, and the office staff, for always being there for me. For the business end and for the encouragement and love. I am sincerely grateful.
